According to the announcement by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who was at Dockside Boot Key Harbor in Marathon on Wednesday morning, Florida residents will have an extra day to go lobster hunting.
“I hope you have fun with it,” DeSantis told reporters.
This year's 2024 mini pre-recreational season is scheduled for July 24 and 25. But the recently announced July 14 was declared by executive order only for Florida residents.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the decision was made by the governor along with agency experts. This decision gives state residents a change to hunting for lobsters in one weekend.
