Safety Inspection Decal - A must have

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ON YOUR BOAT

On one of our fishing boat trips, we were approached by FWC or the maritime police and they checked all the implements that must be brought in the boats for our safety, taking into account the recommendations made by the US Coast Guard to safeguard the lives of the members of the boats.

In this article we are going to show you the minimum you should carry on your boat to take care of your life and that of your family and friends once you go fishing by boat and thus avoid tickets.

1. LIFE JACKETS TO THROW

First you need to have at least one (you can carry on your boat more than one) life jackets to throw in case someone are asking for help if hes fall into the water. There are round or square life jackets. These items are mandatory.

2. 50Ft FLOATING ROPE

Although it is optional, it is a good tool to recover the life jacket that are thrown into the water and do not reach the place we want. It also helps us to recover the person we are helping once they have reached the life jacket.

3. LIFE JACKETS FOR THE PERSONAL ON THE BOAT

All members of the boat must wear their life jacket. If you are traveling with children, they must also wear their life jacket at all times. It is advisable to wear it over your clothes to avoid uncomfortable situations with FWC and also to allow the equipment to function properly.

Please note that life jackets are personal and must be adjusted to the crew's measurements. Children's life jackets are for children and adult life jackets are for adults. Do not use an adult life jacket for a child and vice versa; this can cause danger to the child life if they fall into the water and a ticket by FWC.

4. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

You must have it in the boat to put out any fire or help any boat requires help. The date listed at the bottom is the production date; To know how long the extinguisher lives, just add 12 years to the year of production and you will have the result. It is important that when buying a fire extinguisher check that the clock has the hand in the green zone.

5. GUN/FLARES AND HAND FLARES

In stores, when you buy, you should take into account that cartridges have an expiration time of 3 years. The pistol if it is in good condition does not have an expiration date; If you realize you need to change it, do so. The pistol's flares can reach up to 500ft in height and up to 27 miles of visibility.
Hand flares are another option to carry on the boat. We recommend bringing both.

6. AIR HORN AND WHISTLE

Both are mandatory to carry on the boat; in case one does not work, use the other.

7. FIRST AID KIT

Although it is not mandatory, it is very important to carry it on board in case of a cut, hooked hook or burn, you can perform first aid on the affected person and get to land and then receive medical attention if necessary

8. MARINE VHF HANDHELD RADIO

Although the boats have integrated radios, it is important to have a backup option in case an unexpected situation occurs, not to be left without communication.

All the items we have shown must be READY TO GO, that is, out of their packaging. You can store it in waterproof boxes.
